Romance Writing Festival launches in Bournemouth

21st November 2024, Bournemouth, UK: The team behind the successful Bournemouth Writing Festival has announced a new addition to the festival calendar: the Romance Writing Festival set to take place on Saturday 18th October 2025 at the Royal Bath Hotel. This one-day weekend event promises to be an exciting celebration of the romance genre, packed with insightful talks, engaging panels, hands-on workshops, exclusive networking opportunities, plus a few surprises.

The Romance Writing Festival will bring together a range of speakers, from bestselling authors to publishing insiders, editors and literary agents to help inspire, improve and progress both budding and experienced romance writers on their writing journey to publication.

Attendees will have the opportunity to explore all aspects of romance writing, from crafting compelling characters to navigating the publishing industry. There will also be ample opportunities for writers to connect and collaborate with fellow attendees, authors and publishing professionals.

There will also be an additional Friday masterclass offering attendees a small group workshop and dinner with leading romance writing professionals combined with an overnight stay in a sea-view room.

The event will close with a gala networking event in the Kings Hall of the Royal Bath Hotel - a Grade II listed building on Bournemouth’s famous seafront once frequented by Oscar Wilde - on the evening of 18th October with a literary guest of honour.

The Romance Writing Festival is in addition to the main Bournemouth Writing Festival, taking place in April 2025.

Festival Director Dominic Wong commented, "The Romance Writing Festival is an exciting new chapter for us and a positive addition to the creative cultural landscape of Bournemouth. With the Bournemouth Writing Festival continuing to grow, this event is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate one of the most beloved and enduring genres in literature. I’m delighted to be working with romance writer Alison May and Bournemouth-based author Alex Stone to bring together a community of romance writers and offer a platform to inspire writers to write and create connections."

Co-organiser and author Alison May commented, "Romance is a hugely popular genre, and curating a festival for romance writers in partnership with the Bournemouth Writing Festival is an absolute privilege. The festival's strong values and reputation make it an ideal partner to bring romance writers together, and I can’t wait to create an exceptional event to inspire romance writers, and help them thrive and develop their craft."

Tickets are £74 for the day event, £52.50 for the evening networking event and £899 for the VIP package. Early bird discounts are available.
