Hotels near the Festival

There are many hotels, guest houses and places to stay to suit all budgets in Bournemouth if you are travelling into Dorset for the Writing Festival. Some of our attendees made the most of their visit to Bournemouth and stayed for several nights as a retreat (and treat) to focus on their writing.

Over a quarter of attendees in 2023 came from outside of the county and we were asked to recommend hotels close to the venues holding events and activities. Here are our recommendations.

Norfolk Royale Hotel

Right in the centre of town is the beautifully grand Edwardian Norfolk Royale Hotel.

The hotel's secluded gardens provide a relaxing environment in which guests can enjoy a drink. Guest facilities also include a glass-roofed heated indoor pool, whirlpool and breakfast.

Premier Inn Westover Road

A stone's throw from our main Festival Hub and venue is the Premier Inn on Westover Road.

It's just a couple of minutes from the beach and offers free WiFi.

Plenty of Places in Bournemouth

There are dozens of good quality hotels and guest houses in and around Bournemouth. Even if you are not staying centrally, excellent bus routes all stop within yards of our festival venues.

Hotel Miramar

Maybe you'd like to hang out in the same hotel that JRR Tolkien holidayed in when he visited the south coast?

If so, then the Hotel Miramar is a must-stay! A wonderful Edwardian building featuring Roman inspired pillars and curved balconies that overlook the sea and the landscaped gardens.

The hotel is less than a mile down the hill to our festival venues.
